Neara is building engineering-grade digital twins of electricity grids using advanced machine learning and physics-enabled modeling. The company operates across four continents, helping utilities understand infrastructure challenges, optimize investments, and build resilient energy systems.
As a Data Engineer, you will be part of the Deployment Team responsible for delivering the Neara platform to utility customers worldwide. Your primary focus will be transforming raw utility and geospatial data into high-accuracy digital twin models of electricity networks.
Key responsibilities include:
- End-to-end deployment of the Neara platform for utility customers globally
- Ingesting and manipulating massive datasets including LiDAR, GIS, and asset databases using Neara's proprietary schema language and configuration framework
- Performing rigorous QA/QC to ensure digital twins accurately reflect real-world physics and customer specifications
- Building custom reports and dashboards within the platform to generate actionable insights for utility engineers
- Collaborating with Product and Engineering teams to provide feedback on process improvements and tool enhancements
You should have proven experience as a Data Engineer, Implementation Engineer, Integration Engineer, or Software Engineer. Proficiency in SQL, Python, or similar languages is required, along with the ability to quickly master new schema languages. Strong written communication skills in English are essential, as you'll contribute to internal knowledge bases and external documentation.
A background in engineering, mathematics, software engineering, or computer science is preferred. Experience with GIS, CAD geoprocessing, or LiDAR data is beneficial but not required. You must be comfortable breaking down complex data discrepancies and systematically reconfiguring models to ensure accuracy.
