Salary: USD 180,000 - 200,000 / annual
Discord is seeking an experienced Data Engineer, Analytics to join its data team. You will own the transformation and semantic layer that converts raw data into clean, tested, well-documented tables and dashboards trusted by data scientists, product managers, and business stakeholders. Your responsibilities include designing and maintaining curated analytical datasets and data models that serve as canonical sources for metrics and analyses; owning metric definitions end-to-end from definition through implementation to visualization; building and maintaining executive-level dashboards and self-serve reporting tools; partnering with data science, product, and engineering teams to translate business questions into well-modeled, performant data assets; establishing and enforcing data quality standards through testing, documentation, and monitoring; and driving adoption of consistent data modeling patterns and naming conventions across the organization.
You should have 3+ years of experience in analytics or data engineering with a strong focus on building curated, consumer-facing datasets. You need 3+ years designing, developing, and maintaining robust data models from structured and unstructured sources, and 3+ years writing accurate and effective SQL. Experience designing data models for experimentation, fluency in Python or another programming language with solid version control and CI/CD fundamentals, and experience building executive dashboards using BI tools like Looker or Tableau are required. Strong business acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to bridge technical and business teams are essential. Bonus qualifications include passion for Discord or online communities, experience with semantic layers or metrics stores, familiarity with modern analytics tools like dbt and BigQuery, and experience with monetization or subscription products.
