Clio is the global leader in legal AI technology, empowering legal professionals and law firms to work smarter and more securely. The Data Engineering team is growing and seeking a Data Engineer to build data pipelines and make datasets accessible to partner teams through production-quality code.
In this role, you will implement data ingestion (real-time and batch) using AWS technologies and modern data tools, following best practices in data modeling and ETL/ELT processes. You'll design, build, and maintain data transformation pipelines that consolidate various data sources into Data Lakes and Data Warehouses. Collaboration is key—you'll work with engineers to adopt best practices in data system creation, data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation. You'll also develop prototypes and proof-of-concept implementations for projects where technical solutions are unproven.
You should have experience in software development and data engineering, with proficiency in cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred, with Terraform experience as a bonus). Strong skills in at least one major language (Python, Scala, Ruby) and SQL are essential, along with a drive to write elegant, maintainable code and learn new technologies. Experience with streaming and batch tools like Spark, Kafka, and Airflow is valuable, as is data warehousing experience with Databricks or similar platforms. You'll have built data pipelines and infrastructure to deploy data models and dashboards for visualization. Exceptional collaboration and communication skills are required, with the ability to find clarity in ambiguous environments. A keen interest in improving your craft using AI is a plus.
This is a net-new role based in Toronto with a hybrid work arrangement—expectation is to be in the office twice per week. Clio offers competitive, equitable salary, top-tier health benefits, flexible time off (20 days encouraged annually), RRSP matching, RESP contributions, and a strong culture focused on diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
