Benchling is an AI platform for biotech R&D used by over 200,000 scientists globally, including major biopharma companies like Sanofi and Moderna. The company is rebuilding biotech for the AI era by combining structured scientific data with AI agents and models directly in research workflows.
You'll join AIDE (AI & Data Engineering), a small autonomous team within Security & IT that owns internal AI tooling, company-wide agentic AI applications, and enterprise data engineering infrastructure. This role focuses on building and operating reliable, production-grade data pipelines and warehouse infrastructure that serves the entire company—GTM, Customer Success, Product, Finance, and beyond.
Key responsibilities include owning core data pipelines end-to-end (ingestion, transformation, modeling in Snowflake with dbt, and BI/analytics layers); building the data foundation for AIDE's AI initiatives by partnering with AI engineers to make governed, trustworthy data available; maintaining Snowflake access controls, data quality, PII handling, and warehouse cost/performance; and contributing to platform strategy decisions around warehouse architecture and metrics store design.
You'll need 3+ years building and operating production data pipelines in cloud data warehouses, strong SQL and Python skills, hands-on dbt experience, and familiarity with software engineering practices (version control, code review, CI/CD, testing). Experience with Snowflake, orchestration tools like Airflow, and supporting multiple stakeholders across departments is essential. You should understand data privacy, governance, quality frameworks, and be comfortable translating ambiguous requests from non-technical stakeholders into scoped solutions. AIDE is a newly formed team (mid-2026) actively defining its own processes, so comfort in a small, fast-moving environment is important. Prior life science knowledge is not required but interest in learning is valued.
