Trustpilot is a profitable, high-growth FTSE-250 company operating the world's largest open customer review platform. The company is on a mission to become the universal symbol of trust online.
You'll join the global Fraud & Investigations team as a Data Analyst focused on fraud detection. This role sits within the broader Trust & Transparency team and involves analyzing complex data patterns to identify and stop fraudulent activity on the platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Hunting for novel fraud patterns on the platform by forming and testing hypotheses about how bad actors operate
- Designing detection logic from scratch: creating features, criteria, and thresholds that distinguish fraudulent behavior from legitimate reviews
- Engineering detection rules in SQL that are production-grade, logically sound, and adaptable as fraudsters evolve their tactics
- Balancing precision and coverage by obsessing over false positives and building safeguards to protect legitimate users and businesses
- Investigating escalated cases of platform misuse and assisting with media, legal, and customer inquiries
- Partnering with data scientists to refine detection approaches and working with engineering to improve tools and data infrastructure
- Analyzing reviewer and business behavior to support other teams, communicating findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Reporting to the Manager of Fraud Analytics
You'll need strong SQL skills (BigQuery, Looker experience valued), creative problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work with ambiguous, messy datasets. Prior fraud or abuse detection experience is welcome but not required; the company prioritizes how you think over your specific domain background. You should have a background in data analytics or a related analytical field (Science, Maths, Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on experience).
The role offers flexible working options, competitive compensation with bonus, 25 days holiday (increasing to 28 after 2 years), paid volunteering days, learning and development through Trustpilot Academy and Blinkist, pension, life insurance, health benefits, Headspace access, paid parental leave, and a central London office with collaborative spaces.
