Checkout.com is a global fintech platform powering over 10 billion transactions yearly for companies like eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony. This Cyber Security Engineer I role bridges cybersecurity and emerging AI technologies, focusing on securing AI systems, models, data pipelines, and supporting infrastructure across the organization.
You will design and implement security controls for AI and machine learning solutions, including LLM-based applications and cloud infrastructure. Key responsibilities include assessing security, privacy, and compliance risks associated with AI systems (prompt injection, data leakage, model misuse, insecure plugins); developing standards, guardrails, and reference architectures for secure AI adoption; reviewing AI use cases and deployments for alignment with security policies and regulatory requirements; and building monitoring, detection, and response capabilities for AI-related threats.
You'll also identify opportunities to leverage AI to enhance cybersecurity operations—alert triage, threat analysis, playbook automation, and workflow optimization—while staying current on evolving AI security risks, attack techniques, and regulations (EU AI Act, ISO 42001).
Required qualifications include experience in cybersecurity engineering or security architecture; strong understanding of identity and access management, cloud security, application security, data protection, logging/monitoring, and incident response; knowledge of AI/ML and LLM concepts; experience securing cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP); familiarity with AI-specific security risks; and ability to conduct architecture reviews and threat modeling. You'll translate technical risk into practical guidance for engineering and non-technical stakeholders, collaborate across teams, and thrive in a fast-moving environment where standards continue to evolve.
