HUD is building reliable, fair, and open infrastructure for AI data. The company operates a marketplace and platform used by startups, Fortune 500 companies, and frontier labs. Backed by $16M in funding from top VCs and Y Combinator (W25), HUD is scaling rapidly to meet strong demand. As Customer Operations Lead, you will own the human-in-the-loop layer of HUD's customer-facing operations, serving both data suppliers (vendors) and frontier labs/enterprises (buyers). You'll be the implementation counterpart to the GTM Engineering team. Key responsibilities include: - Owning customer activation and engagement systems across the vendor and buyer sides - Engaging directly in customer conversations when human judgment is needed to build trust, clarify context, or unblock progress - Resolving contract, onboarding, and platform blockers by coordinating with internal teams - Converting recurring customer issues, feedback, and learnings into improved processes, platform features, and communications - Building lightweight systems and workflows that streamline problem resolution The role requires managing multiple concurrent customer threads while maintaining high attention to detail and strong follow-through. You'll work in a fast-paced, early-stage environment where you can work independently and make meaningful impact. The company has ~25 people, mostly full-time in-person, with some remote flexibility. The team includes 4 International Olympiad medalists, serial AI startup founders, and researchers with publications at top conferences (ICLR, NeurIPS). The company is profitable and scaling quickly with 8-figure funding. REQUIREMENTS: - Experience in customer operations, business operations, consulting, or similar roles - Familiarity with CRM tools, external vendor management, and AI-native CRM campaigns/email tracking - Demonstrated judgment in customer-facing situations—knowing when to be helpful, when to push back, and when to escalate - Ability to manage many small but important threads simultaneously - High attention to detail and strong follow-through - Experience using AI tools to improve productivity STRONG CANDIDATES MAY ALSO HAVE: - Early-stage startup experience with ability to work independently in fast-paced environments - Experience working with technical customers - Familiarity with reinforcement learning concepts (environments, evals, benchmarks) - Comfort thriving in unstructured problem spaces The company prioritizes technical aptitude and learning potential over years of experience. Motivated candidates are encouraged to apply even if they don't meet all criteria.
