Mistral is seeking a Critical Infrastructure Engineering Lead to serve as the senior technical authority for critical electrical, mechanical, and life-safety infrastructure across assigned colocation sites supporting high-density AI compute. This is a hands-on technical role focused on protecting infrastructure availability and operational resilience. You will work with Engineering Operations leadership, IT Operations, hardware partners, and colocation providers to deliver technical assurance across sites or clusters. The role emphasizes technical oversight and influence rather than direct management of external maintenance workforces. Key responsibilities include: **Technical Assurance & Risk Management:** Own and maintain site technical risk registers covering electrical and mechanical single points of failure, maintenance exposure, redundancy limitations, cooling capacity, and common-mode failure scenarios. Assess resilience of utility connections, MV/LV distribution, transformers, generators, UPS, switchgear, protection systems, pumps, cooling plant, and controls against contracted operating envelopes. Review preventive maintenance strategies, asset condition, and outstanding defects. Critically review high-risk methods of procedure, electrical switching plans, and work sequencing. Validate technical documentation including single-line diagrams, P&IDs, operating sequences, and procedures. Use BMS/EPMS trends and telemetry to identify abnormal conditions and capacity constraints before service impact. **Incident Response & Investigations:** Act as senior engineering escalation during major infrastructure incidents, rapidly assessing failure domain, remaining redundancy, safety implications, and restoration options. Coordinate technical information across colocation providers, IT Operations, and OEM partners. Review and challenge root-cause analyses. Define and follow up corrective and preventive actions. Identify systemic trends across sites and share lessons learned. Support emergency response planning and tabletop exercises. **Capacity Delivery & Change Control:** Participate in design and constructability reviews for expansions and new AI deployments. Review commissioning and integrated systems testing plans. Challenge test results against defined requirements. Partner with IT Operations on rack power, thermal limits, and direct-to-chip liquid cooling. Assess proposed changes to critical infrastructure. Provide technical coaching and support engineering standards development. Success is measured by early identification and reduction of critical technical risks, timely evidence-based review of high-risk changes, accurate incident diagnosis and robust corrective actions, new capacity meeting acceptance requirements, and decreasing repeat failures over time. **Requirements:** - 5–7+ years in critical facilities engineering, commissioning, data center operations, or technical assurance in high-availability environments - Strong practical knowledge of critical electrical infrastructure (UPS, generators, MV/LV distribution, switchgear, protection) and mechanical systems (cooling plant, pumps, controls, heat rejection) - Ability to review single-line diagrams, operating sequences, technical procedures, maintenance plans, commissioning evidence, and root-cause analyses - Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure incidents and influencing external technical teams without direct line authority - Clear written and verbal English communication, sound judgment under pressure, willingness to travel and participate in incident escalation **Preferred Experience:** - Full technical governance, multi-site operations, or mission-critical facilities serving high-density AI/HPC workloads - Direct-to-chip liquid cooling, CDUs, facility/technology cooling interfaces, water quality, leak detection, and rack-level thermal management - Integrated systems testing, EPMS/BMS trend analysis, protection coordination, failure-mode reviews, and cross-site engineering standardization - Experience partnering with hardware OEMs, design engineers, commissioning teams, and infrastructure providers during live-site expansion
