Brex is seeking a Credit Card Counsel to serve as an embedded legal partner to engineering, product, and design teams building spend management software. You will advise on regulatory and commercial issues across credit card, lending, software, and fintech products—including data privacy, contracting, intellectual property, AI/automation, and consumer/commercial protection requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Embedded partnership with engineering, product, and design teams from ideation through launch, translating complex regulatory and card network requirements into practical product decisions
- Provide pragmatic advice on regulatory and commercial implications of product architecture, data flows, automation, AI features, and integrations
- Advise cross-functional partners on credit, lending, and card network regulatory questions
- Advise on software, data privacy, and product regulatory matters
- Review and advise on product/marketing collateral, customer communications, and disclosures
- Draft and maintain customer agreements, terms, disclosures, and feature-level terms for spend management products
- Support data handling, integration, and partner arrangements for product launches
You will work in a hybrid environment (minimum 3 days/week in Seattle office: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) with up to 4 weeks annual fully remote work flexibility.
Required qualifications: 4+ years experience in law firms and/or technology/fintech companies, with expertise in credit card, lending, and commercial matters for regulated financial or technology products. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and international credit/lending laws (TILA/Reg Z, ECOA/Reg B, UDAP/UDAAP, card network rules). Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both internal and external audiences.
