Brex is seeking a Credit Card Counsel to serve as an embedded legal partner for its spend management software products. You will advise engineering, product, and design teams on regulatory, compliance, and commercial issues from ideation through launch, translating complex credit card network rules, lending regulations, and fintech requirements into practical product decisions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Embedded legal partnership with engineering, product, and design teams building spend management features (budgets, policies, approvals, audit controls)
- Real-time advisory on regulatory and commercial implications of product architecture, data flows, AI/automation features, and integrations
- Guidance on credit, lending, and card network regulatory questions across cross-functional teams
- Advice on software, data privacy, and product regulatory compliance
- Drafting and maintaining customer agreements, terms, disclosures, and feature-level documentation for spend management products
- Review of product and marketing collateral, customer communications, and required disclosures
- Support for data handling, integration, and partner arrangements related to product launches
You will work in a hybrid environment (minimum 3 days/week in office: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) with up to 4 weeks annual fully remote work flexibility. The role requires 4+ years of combined law firm and technology/fintech experience, with deep familiarity of federal and state credit, lending, and card regulations (TILA/Reg Z, ECOA/Reg B, UDAP/UDAAP, card network rules). Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with an ownership mentality and ability to navigate complex legal matters with sound judgment.
