Legion is seeking a Creative Director to build and lead an AI-native creative function. You will serve as the hands-on operating core of Legion's in-house creative capability, setting the creative bar across brand, demand, product, web, social, video, and events while shipping high-priority work yourself.
You will report to the SVP of Marketing and partner across Federal Marketing, Demand Marketing, Product Marketing, Digital Marketing, and PR. You will also collaborate closely with the Product team on design direction and in-product visuals, and with GTM and Sales on enablement and customer-facing materials. Over time, you will build and manage a small flexible bench of designers and specialists.
The Role operates at two levels: At the craft level, you will set the creative bar and personally produce the highest-priority brand, campaign, product, and web work. At the systems level, you will build machine-readable brand infrastructure—prompts, templates, and AI-native workflows—that enable the team to produce on-brand work at scale. This is a builder's role focused on defining how a modern, AI-native marketing team creates, ships, governs, and scales creative work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set creative direction and personally execute across brand, web, campaigns, events, social, video, and sales materials
- Translate complex AI, agent orchestration, edge, and national security concepts into clear, credible visual systems
- Partner with marketing teams on demand generation, ABM, launches, education, and field events
- Build modular campaign systems, landing pages, social assets, email graphics, sales collateral, and executive materials
- Use frontier AI models and creative tools daily to build repeatable workflows across video, campaigns, landing pages, social, product visuals, and decks
- Turn Legion's brand into machine-readable infrastructure with reusable prompts, templates, kits, and playbooks
- Build and manage a flexible bench of freelance designers, motion and video specialists, and contractors
- Partner with the Product team to set visual design direction and produce product visuals, icons, diagrams, and in-product creative
- Run creative as a measurable loop, using performance signals to sharpen concepts and priorities
Legion is a remote-first company building secure, reliable AI systems trusted by government and enterprise leaders. The creative function you build will help Legion tell its mission story at the speed the moment demands.
Requirements:
- 8+ years in creative, brand design, art direction, or creative services in high-growth technology, AI, B2B SaaS, or similarly complex and technical markets, with hands-on production experience
- Portfolio demonstrating range and craft across brand, campaign, web, social, video, and product or technical storytelling
- Daily, advanced use of AI in the creative process: frontier models (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini) and AI design/image/video tools (Adobe Firefly, Midjourney, Runway, Google Veo, Sora, ElevenLabs)
- Creative coding and prototyping ability using design-to-code and AI tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Figma Make, v0 by Vercel)
- Track record of turning brand guidelines into systems others can run: reusable prompts, templates, kits, or workflows
- Experience building, hiring, and managing a freelance or contractor bench
- Hands-on motion and video production skills (Premiere, After Effects, Descript, AI-assisted video)
- Product and in-product visual support capability (icons, diagrams, app imagery, feature visuals)
- Strong command of Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong written and verbal communication with high-ownership, low-ego, fast-moving style
- Required: Portfolio or work samples submission required to be considered
Preferred:
- Experience in defense, national security, intelligence, national labs, critical infrastructure, public sector, or regulated industries
- Experience with ABM, demand generation, product launches, or full-funnel B2B campaigns
- Experience with lightweight web tools (Webflow, Framer)
- Experience building AI brand kits or machine-readable brand guidance
