NMI, a global leader in payment technologies, is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join its legal team. This role reports to the Associate General Counsel and offers the opportunity to work on a diverse scope of legal matters in a fast-growing fintech environment.
Key responsibilities include drafting and negotiating commercial agreements to support US and UK-based sales teams, including customer proposals and NDAs. You will provide practical, business-oriented legal advice to colleagues across the organization on contracting models, product design, compliance, and corporate governance. The role involves supporting data protection requests and managing various data compliance matters, negotiating vendor agreements, and maintaining template agreements and contract review guidebooks.
You will identify opportunities to create and improve legal processes to drive efficiencies and help the business adapt to evolving legal needs. This is an independent contributor role where you'll work directly with teams at all organizational levels.
Required qualifications include 2+ years of legal experience (law firm or in-house), a JD, and membership in good standing with at least one state bar association. You should be comfortable providing practical legal advice, thinking strategically about process improvements, and working on corporate and commercial matters in both US and UK contexts. The ideal candidate is a quick learner comfortable with unfamiliar matters, thrives in fast-paced environments, and operates independently.
Preferred experience includes in-house work at a fast-growing tech company or advising fintechs at a law firm, strong knowledge of the payment industry and SaaS contracting models, and privacy expertise including GDPR familiarity. Payment industry experience and privacy certifications (CIPP/E or CIPP/M) are a plus but not required.
