FIS is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel to join its Legal, Compliance & Corporate Affairs (LCCA) group, which comprises 200+ attorneys and 600+ total professionals serving as strategic advisors to the business. This role provides operational direction to the legal team while delivering strategic legal counsel to business stakeholders across product development, go-to-market initiatives, and production support.
Key responsibilities include advising Enterprise Account Managers on commercial sales contracts with banks and credit unions throughout North America, supporting strategic partnerships with financial services and technology partners, and communicating with executive leadership on complex legal matters. You will act as a thought leader within the legal organization, providing insights on emerging legal trends and industry best practices. The role involves developing strategic goals and initiatives, implementing new processes and operational standards to improve efficiency, and managing the organization's intellectual property strategy including trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
You will handle complex due diligence related to intellectual property in business transactions, review multi-faceted legal issues, and counsel business colleagues on regulatory matters in a fast-paced, global environment. This is an individual contributor role focused on strategic enablement and support for business leaders.
Required qualifications: J.D. with active bar membership in at least one state. 7-10 years of in-house legal experience in financial services and/or technology companies is strongly preferred, with particular emphasis on payments, banking, and data practices. You must demonstrate strong communication, research, writing, and analytical skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; and proven capability managing multiple complex projects efficiently while exercising sound judgment with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.
