ID.me is seeking a Corporate Counsel, Public Sector to join its Legal team in McLean, Virginia. This is a high-visibility role supporting ID.me's federal, state, and local government business—a core growth area for the company. You will serve as a key legal partner to the Public Sector business team, advising Sales, Capture, Product, Security, and Executive stakeholders on the full lifecycle of government transactions. The role requires 3–8 years of experience with a strong foundation in government contracting, technology licensing, and public sector compliance, with the ability to operate with meaningful autonomy in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Key responsibilities include: Government Contracting & Transactions: Draft, review, and negotiate public sector agreements including SaaS licenses, MSAs, data processing agreements, teaming agreements, OTAs, and statements of work. Review and analyze government solicitations (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs) to assess legal risk and ensure compliance with procurement laws. Support federal, state, and local government transactions through the full contracting lifecycle. Advise on compliance with FAR, DFARS, agency-specific supplements, and government contracting best practices. Support contracting activities involving public sector resellers, systems integrators, and channel partners. Legal Counsel & Strategic Advice: Provide practical, risk-balanced legal guidance to Sales, Government Affairs, Product, Engineering, Security, Finance, and executive teams on government contracting and compliance matters. Advise on data rights, software licensing, cybersecurity obligations, privacy requirements, government ethics, and organizational conflicts of interest. Monitor developments in government procurement law, cybersecurity regulation, AI governance, and public sector technology policy; proactively advise the business on emerging issues. Operations & Scalability: Help develop and improve scalable legal templates, contracting playbooks, and operational processes to support ID.me's growing government business. Support post-award contract administration, including contract interpretation, modifications, compliance obligations, and dispute resolution. Contribute broadly across the Legal team on commercial, compliance, and operational matters as ID.me scales. Required qualifications: J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state. Legal experience with a focus on government contracts and/or public sector commercial transactions. Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
