Okta is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join its Public Sector and Regulated Offerings Legal Team. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on providing frontline legal counseling for Okta's most critical regulated environments, particularly those involving U.S. government frameworks. You will serve as a subject matter expert on public sector compliance, including FedRAMP, DoD CC SRG, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS). Your responsibilities include providing end-to-end legal support for Okta's Public Sector teams, acting as the primary advisor on emerging cloud service policies, and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet rigorous regulatory standards. Key responsibilities: - Provide comprehensive legal guidance for regulated product development and launches - Embed with Product, Engineering, Compliance, and Security teams to navigate authorization processes from conception through deployment - Educate internal stakeholders on shifting regulatory landscapes - Design scalable, pragmatic legal solutions that balance aggressive business objectives with appropriate risk mitigation - Act as a bridge between legal, engineering, compliance, security, and sales teams Required qualifications: - 5–7+ years of legal practice with at least 2 years focused on U.S. Public Sector and Regulated Products - J.D. from a highly-regarded institution with active Bar admission - Proven track record supporting IT products and SaaS business models - Working knowledge of U.S. Federal, state, and local regulations impacting technology - Strong understanding of FedRAMP, DoD CC SRG, FAR, and DFARS frameworks - Self-starter mentality with ability to independently navigate complex issues - Ability to maintain high standards and meet tight deadlines in fast-paced environments Preferred qualifications: - Military Judge Advocate or U.S. Federal Civilian service attorney advisor experience - Undergraduate degree in a technical field - Hands-on experience with AI platforms and tools for legal workflow optimization The role is hybrid-friendly with flexibility for remote work, based in New York or Washington, DC.
