Salary: USD 150,000 - 170,000 / annual
Metropolis Technologies is seeking a Corporate Counsel to support the Senior Counsel in delivering comprehensive legal guidance across business regions. You will serve as a proactive and trusted partner to Revenue and Operations teams, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, mitigating risk, and developing strategies aligned with the company's cutting-edge AI technology and urban mobility solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the Senior Counsel in providing comprehensive legal support to one or more business regions or practice groups
- Act as a proactive business partner assisting stakeholders with contract-related issues, compliance matters, and risk assessments
- Work closely with business teams to develop and execute legal strategies that protect and advance company operations
- Develop deep understanding of the technology business and urban mobility industry
- Draft, review, and support negotiation of commercial contracts including SaaS agreements, client agreements, procurement agreements, IT agreements, government contracts, commercial leasing agreements, and consulting agreements
- Champion the use of AI tools to drive efficiencies and reduce redundant tasks across legal workflows
- Support coordination of business disputes and management of outside counsel
- Provide essential support to the Senior Counsel and other attorneys
Required qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license or eligibility to practice law in Illinois or Tennessee
- 5+ years of progressive experience in a corporate law department or business/transactional practice group at a law firm
- Experience with a variety of commercial contracts including management, operating, technology, and procurement agreements
- Proven ability to adopt and champion AI tools to transform workflows
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines
- Strong transactional and legal writing skills
- Strong practical decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to identify and grasp complex legal issues and communicate clearly to colleagues and business partners
Plus factors include SaaS contract experience, commercial leasing experience, and prior in-house legal department experience. The role requires 4 days per week in-office to foster collaboration and innovation.
