Beacon Biosignals is transforming precision medicine for the brain through at-home EEG platforms for clinical development and diagnostics. The company combines EEG and cardiopulmonary signals to deliver reimbursable assessments for sleep and central nervous system disorders.
As Corporate Controller, you will oversee all accounting and payroll activities, including month-end close processes, invoicing, and accounts payable. You will serve as the in-house expert on revenue recognition and operations, developing and maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure GAAP compliance and regulatory adherence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee accounting, payroll, and month-end close processes
- Support invoicing and AP activities
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and internal controls
- Monitor financial performance against forecasts
- Prepare internal and external financial statements
- Produce KPI reporting and variance analysis
- Collaborate with People Operations on headcount planning and projections
- Review quarterly and annual payroll tax returns (Form 941, 940, W-2s, W-3, state equivalents)
- Ensure accurate calculation, remittance, and recording of federal, state, and local payroll taxes
- Create and maintain policies for travel and business expenses
- Review and approve all expenses
- Streamline accounting systems and processes for efficiency
This role reports directly to the CEO and is mission-critical to the company's future success as a growth-stage Series B company rapidly scaling. You will partner with leaders across all business functions and have opportunities to implement cloud-based systems and best-in-class finance tools.
REQUIREMENTS:
- CPA certification
- 3+ years of experience in public accounting
- 7+ years of experience in Finance, ideally in a startup environment
- Degree in finance, statistics, economics, business, or related field
- Interest in building infrastructure to sustain significant growth while maintaining tight financial controls
- Passion for helping others make informed decisions through ROI analysis and financial storytelling
- Ability to convey complex financial concepts to organizational leaders
- Desire to drive continuous process improvements
- Outstanding Excel skills with ability to manipulate large data sets
- Experience with QuickBooks
