This Senior Software Engineer role is for an ownership-focused engineer who thrives on end-to-end product impact. You'll work directly with stakeholders to understand problems, shape solutions, and build scalable software from concept to production. The role emphasizes autonomy: you'll take initiatives from idea to launch, using whatever tools the job requires—code, AI, prototypes, and judgment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own products from discovery through delivery, partnering with stakeholders to understand problems and design solutions
- Design technical solutions and build scalable software using strong engineering principles and AI-powered development tools
- Influence product direction, architecture, workflows, and user experience—not just implementation
- Build reliable, scalable systems while optimizing performance and resolving bottlenecks
- Design and evolve APIs, relational database schemas, and system architecture with long-term scalability in mind
- Use AI as part of your everyday engineering workflow to prototype, accelerate development, and iterate faster
- Continuously evaluate and adopt new tools, AI capabilities, and engineering practices
- Make thoughtful technical decisions balancing speed, quality, and maintainability
- Collaborate through design discussions, code reviews, and knowledge sharing
- Improve systems, tools, and developer experience
Clutch's tech stack includes TypeScript, React, Express, PostgreSQL, and AWS, but the company prioritizes exceptional engineers over perfect technology matches. You should have 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, a track record of shipping production software, and experience with frontend, backend, or full-stack development. Experience with modern languages (TypeScript, Python, Go, Java, C#, Rust, Ruby), relational databases, API design, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is expected. The ideal candidate is naturally curious, communicates clearly, and cares equally about business outcomes and technical excellence.
