Salary: USD 160,000 - 200,000 / annual
Remora is a climate tech company building modular carbon capture systems that convert exhaust into beverage-grade CO₂ for breweries and greenhouses. The company has raised over $150 million from top-tier investors including Lowercarbon Capital, Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital, Y Combinator, and Valor Equity Partners.
You will join as Controller to build and lead the accounting function during a critical growth phase. The company is transitioning from technology development into commercial operations, bringing its first capital projects into service, launching new revenue streams, and preparing for its first financial statement audit and ERP migration.
This is a hands-on leadership role with significant ownership from day one. You will own the general ledger, monthly close, technical accounting, financial reporting, and audit processes. Key responsibilities include:
• Own the monthly close, general ledger, and financial reporting process, including payroll, AP, and AR during early stages
• Lead revenue recognition and accounts receivable across multiple revenue streams
• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls as the company scales
• Lead Remora through its first financial audit, including technical accounting positions, documentation, schedules, and auditor relationships
• Manage accounting for debt, leases, equity instruments, warrants, and other complex financing arrangements, including lender reporting and covenant requirements
• Support fixed asset and construction-in-progress accounting, including capitalization, project costs, placing assets into service, depreciation, and cost of sales
• Lead the accounting workstream for ERP selection and implementation, replacing QuickBooks over the next 12–18 months
• Build scalable multi-entity and project-level accounting processes as project financing structures expand
• Partner closely with Finance, Operations, Engineering, Legal, and other teams to ensure accounting accurately reflects the business
• Build, manage, and develop the accounting team as the company grows

REQUIREMENTS:
• CPA required
• Public accounting experience with a strong audit foundation, ideally at a large national or global firm
• Experience with technical accounting, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and complex accounting transactions
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead accounting teams
• Experience with financial audits and audit preparation
• Strong understanding of accounting systems and ERP implementations
• Experience with project-based or multi-entity accounting preferred
• Ability to work hands-on while building scalable processes
