Salary: USD 130,000 - 150,000 / annual
Voyager Technologies, an innovative space, defense, and national security technology company, is seeking an experienced Contracts Specialist to provide strategic contracting expertise and guidance. This role reports to the Senior Director of Contracts within the Finance department and is based in San Diego, CA with potential multi-site responsibility.
You will serve as a subject matter expert on government and commercial contracting, providing strategic advice on contractual rights, obligations, regulations, and policies to mitigate risks and prevent unauthorized changes. Key responsibilities include:
• Develop and implement contract strategies aligned with Voyager's strategic imperatives, partnering with Finance leadership to secure contract awards, negotiate favorable payment terms, and ensure timely customer payments to meet financial targets.
• Collaborate across business divisions and functional organizations (Legal, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Controller, Compliance) to vet contracting activities and ensure all actions comply with Delegation of Authority and company policy.
• Lead contract management activities including proposal preparation, terms and conditions assessment, contract negotiations, and closeouts. Represent the company to executive leadership with recommendations aligned with corporate strategy.
• Manage customer relationships to ensure positive, constructive interactions. Coordinate resolution of key business issues with legal, risk management, and corporate contracts teams.
• Assess contract terms and conditions to protect the corporation from unusual risk while sustaining or improving financial goals. Travel between multiple sites as needed.
Your expertise should span FAR/DFARS regulations, Direct Commercial Sales (DCS), international and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contracting, offsets, industrial participation, intellectual property issues, and USG data rights. You will communicate complex contractual and business guidance to Program Management Leadership and executive teams.
REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, a related field, or equivalent work experience
• 7+ years in a highly dynamic role within a technology, defense, or aerospace/space company
• Experience managing Government contracts under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)
• Experience in proposal development, cost structure, performance requirements, delivery schedules, and negotiations
• Demonstrated ability to shape results, communicate effectively, and influence executive leadership
• Excellent communication skills and proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with complex customers
• Detail-oriented and data-driven
Preferred:
• Advanced degree (MBA, JD, or other)
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing
