Modulr is a fast-growing European fintech company enabling businesses to efficiently manage embedded payments across the UK and Europe. This role is part of the compliance and onboarding team, responsible for conducting Customer Due Diligence (CDD) for individual and corporate clients.
You will conduct simplified and enhanced due diligence, perform sanctions and PEP screening, review adverse media, and assess KYC/KYB documentation including ID verification, address proof, and ownership structures. You'll review and update customer records in accordance with FCA guidelines and UK/EU AML directives, complete client risk assessments, and escalate any hits or anomalies following established protocols.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with internal and external teams to resolve onboarding gaps, ensuring accurate documentation of all due diligence activities while maintaining audit readiness and GDPR compliance, and identifying process improvements including automation opportunities.
You'll need a minimum of 2 years' experience in CDD, KYC, AML, or financial crime roles within a regulated financial institution or fintech. Strong understanding of UK/EU AML regulations, JMLSG guidance, and FCA expectations is essential. You should be comfortable with various client types and structures (corporates, trusts, partnerships, beneficial ownership), have experience with screening tools like Orbis or Moody's, and be proficient in Excel, CRM/KYC platforms, and document management systems.
The ideal candidate thrives in high-volume, regulated environments, demonstrates strong analytical skills and attention to detail, and can manage high volumes of work accurately to deadline. Excellent written and verbal communication, ability to work independently with accountability, and collaborative team skills are required. Experience across multiple jurisdictions, familiarity with EU business structures, and a curious mindset about automation are nice-to-haves.
