Thunes is a global fintech company operating a Direct Global Network that enables real-time payments across 130+ countries and 80+ currencies. The network connects to over 7 billion mobile wallets and bank accounts, plus 15 billion cards via 320+ payment methods (GCash, M-Pesa, Airtel, MTN, Orange, JazzCash, Easypaisa, AliPay, WeChat Pay, etc.). Clients include Uber, Deliveroo, Grab, WeChat, and numerous fintechs, PSPs, and banks.
This Compliance Manager role is based in Singapore, reporting to the APAC Compliance Director in Hong Kong. You will lead the compliance function in Singapore and serve as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for Thunes' Major Payment Institution license in Singapore, supporting the company's global operations.
Key responsibilities include:
**Compliance Programme**: Deploy Thunes' Group Compliance framework in Singapore covering AML/CTF, Sanctions, and ABC policies. Apply frameworks across the full business relationship lifecycle (onboarding, ongoing monitoring, reporting). Support KYC and Transaction Monitoring teams. Provide risk analysis on clients, payment methods, and global payment chains. Identify, assess, track, and escalate regulatory risks. Train teams on compliance requirements and maintain regulatory watch.
**Regulatory Point of Contact**: Serve as the primary contact for Singapore authorities (MAS). Interact with senior management, partner banks, FIU, government authorities, and payment schemes. Manage policy creation and deployment. Coordinate remediation of audit findings. Create and communicate mandatory reportings to local authorities.
**Stakeholder Engagement**: Establish risk and compliance culture within the business. Participate in governance of the Singapore-regulated entity. Work with operational teams across EU, UK, US, and APAC to integrate Singaporean regulatory requirements into the global compliance program. Demonstrate knowledge of KYC, sanctions/PEP screening, and AML/CFT alert management. Limited international travel (max 5%).
Ideal candidates have 5-7 years of compliance experience in financial institutions, preferably in banking, payment services providers (MTOs, cross-border remitters, acquiring PSPs, BaaS), eMoney institutions, or banks. Strong understanding of payments compliance, regulatory frameworks, and ability to work across global teams required.
