As a Compliance Analyst, you will provide expert oversight and guidance on financial crime risk within NALA's payments ecosystem. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on complex investigations, regulatory compliance, and team development.
Key responsibilities include: leading complex investigations into suspicious activity and high-risk customers across products and jurisdictions; responding to regulatory exams, internal audits, and partner reviews with timely documentation; overseeing escalated SARs (Suspicious Activity Reports) and supporting regulatory submission; managing law enforcement requests and court order responses in compliance with local laws; training and mentoring the second line of defense (2LOD) team and new hires on escalation frameworks and investigative techniques; conducting detailed transaction analysis to support risk rule refinement and typology development; drafting and maintaining clear, auditable desk procedures for first and second line of defense teams; and supporting ad hoc projects at the request of the Head of Compliance and MLRO.
Required qualifications: proven experience in financial crime investigations including SAR/STR handling and typology development; strong working knowledge of CDD, EDD, sanctions screening, and AML regulations in high-risk jurisdictions; experience managing law enforcement requests and handling confidential legal correspondence; ability to interpret complex transaction patterns and assess financial crime risk; confident decision-making with clear documentation of rationale; and experience working in an international money transfer business.
Nice-to-have qualifications include prior experience training or mentoring junior investigators and experience with regulatory exams or internal audit preparation in fintech or financial institutions.
Success metrics at 3 months: deliver training sessions to upskill remote 2LOD team on escalation and investigation standards; respond to all regulatory and partner queries with zero errors and within required timelines. At 6 months: implement updated escalation/decision matrices with measurable improvements in investigation consistency; identify and document 3+ new suspicious activity typologies for internal use and partner reporting.
