Anthropic is seeking a Compensation Programs Specialist to join the People team. In this role, you will serve as the operational backbone of compensation programs, coordinating and executing processes that keep pay programs running smoothly and on time.
You will work closely with Compensation Partners, People Partners, Finance, and Recruiting to ensure compensation workflows are delivered accurately and consistently across the organization. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and energized by running reliable operational processes at a high-growth AI company.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own the administration of non-cyclical compensation programs end-to-end, including processing submissions, coordinating approvals, and ensuring timely and accurate processing in partnership with People Partners, People Operations, and Payroll
- Support bi-annual compensation cycles including data audits, cash, equity, and peer group reviews, and survey submissions
- Coordinate with Recruiting Operations and Equity Administrators to ensure equity grants are processed in accordance with company policies
- Maintain and improve compensation resources for the business and team, including compensation hub, playbooks, compensation tables, and job architecture, ensuring guidance is current and accurate
- Identify and flag process gaps or inconsistencies, and partner with the broader compensation team to improve operational workflows
- Partner with the Compensation Partners team on program design workstreams

Location and work arrangement: The role is based in San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY. Currently, the company expects all staff to be in one of their offices at least 25% of the time, though some roles may require more time in the office.
Minimum qualifications:
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple concurrent workstreams with competing deadlines
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
- Proficient Excel/Google Sheets skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data modeling
- Clear communication and proactive stakeholder management
- Collaborative partner who enjoys working across People, Finance, Legal, and business teams
- Thrives in fast-moving environments and energized by building reliable, repeatable processes
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
- A field of study relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
Preferred qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in compensation, total rewards, people operations, or a closely related field
- Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday) or compensation administration tools (e.g., Shareworks/Carta)
- Familiarity with equity compensation programs and related administration
- Familiarity with compensation data providers (e.g., Radford/Aon, Mercer)
- Strong collaboration and program management skills
- Interest in Anthropic's mission and the unique compensation challenges that come with building at the frontier of AI
