Anthropic is seeking a Community Engagement Manager based in Texas to serve as the company's on-the-ground presence in communities where its data centers are sited, built, and operated. This role bridges Anthropic's Policy and Infrastructure teams with local stakeholders—elected officials, community organizations, economic development partners, and residents—to build trusted, long-term partnerships.
The Community Engagement Manager will develop and execute comprehensive community engagement strategies spanning site selection, pre-development, construction, and ongoing operations. Key responsibilities include building sustained relationships with local government agencies, civic leaders, and community groups; hosting education and listening sessions; representing Anthropic at town halls, planning hearings, and public forums; monitoring community sentiment and local political dynamics; and advising internal teams on risks and opportunities.
The role requires close collaboration with Real Estate, Infrastructure, Communications, Energy, and Sustainability teams to integrate community input into project planning and delivery. The manager will coordinate charitable giving, community investment, and economic development commitments while developing repeatable processes and playbooks that scale as Anthropic's infrastructure footprint grows.
Travel within the region is expected up to 50% of the time, with occasional travel to other Anthropic data center markets. This is a relationship-focused role requiring skilled stakeholder engagement, credible public representation, and the ability to translate complex operational plans into clear language for local officials and media.
Minimum qualifications include experience in community affairs, public affairs, economic development, government relations, or local government; direct experience engaging with local governments on large infrastructure, construction, energy, or technology projects; strong relationship-building and communication skills; and ability to work independently on multiple concurrent engagements. Preferred: 7+ years in community engagement on data center, utility, energy, or industrial infrastructure projects, or in local government.
