Discord is seeking a Commercial Policy Lead to own policy strategy for Brand Safety and Anti-Malware within the Product Policy team's Commercial Policy function. This is a foundational, high-visibility individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Manager, Commercial Policy. You will independently develop and evolve Discord's Brand Safety, Suitability, and anti-malvertising policies for the ads business, partnering with Legal to ensure global compliance and leveraging AI/data analytics to identify emerging commercial risks. You'll build deep knowledge of Discord's revenue strategy and commercial infrastructure, translating complex policy requirements into actionable guidance for Sales and Product teams. Key responsibilities include: partnering directly with Discord Advertising customers, Marketing, and Business Development to define partner requirements; guiding Revenue product teams throughout the development lifecycle with Legal on risk mitigation; collaborating with Product and Engineering on detection infrastructure and enforcement scaling; representing Discord's commercial policy approach with industry groups (TAG, IAB); and developing user-facing communications explaining commercial policies. You'll work across Legal, Revenue, Product, Engineering, and Enforcement teams to build frameworks that enable Discord's ads business to scale responsibly. The role involves regular exposure to potentially disturbing content including violence and hate speech. Required: 5+ years in advertising policy, marketplace quality/operations, trust & safety, or brand safety roles at technology companies, with proven expertise in at least two of: digital advertising, Brand Safety/Suitability, or anti-malware strategy. Deep understanding of programmatic and digital advertising ecosystems, experience with major Brand Safety vendors (DoubleVerify, IAS, HUMAN, etc.), and experience addressing large-scale malvertising schemes. Must have experience using AI/LLM tools, working with revenue teams, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication for technical and business stakeholders. Bonus: Discord platform experience, understanding of gaming/creator communities, or experience with subscription models and in-app purchases.
