Mistral is seeking an experienced Commercial Legal Counsel to join its APAC team based in Singapore, reporting to the Director of Legal APAC. This role is central to supporting Mistral's growth across the Asia-Pacific region by partnering with sales, business development, and cross-functional teams to structure, draft, negotiate, and close complex commercial agreements.
Key responsibilities include negotiating and advising on a wide range of commercial contracts—master services agreements, data protection agreements, partnership agreements, reseller agreements, and professional services agreements—with particular focus on public sector and enterprise technology deals. You will actively collaborate with sales representatives, deployment strategists, applied AI engineers, data scientists, infosec, government affairs, marketing, communications, and finance teams to ensure legal compliance and commercial success across APAC.
You will own accountability for delivering meaningful results, managing priorities amid changing deadlines, and staying current on AI-related legal and regulatory developments across the region. The role includes providing strategic guidance on compliance risks and opportunities, delivering training and support to the regional team on AI and compliance matters, and contributing to operational excellence and process improvement.
The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of relevant legal experience, including at least 5 years in-house at technology companies covering APAC, with demonstrated expertise in negotiating complex technology transactions (AI-focused preferred). You must be admitted to practice law in Singapore and have required experience with public sector contract negotiation. A solid legal and practical understanding of AI technologies (machine learning, NLP), data privacy, IP, regulatory compliance, and AI ethics is essential. You should be a skilled communicator with strong analytical abilities, customer-first mindset, and entrepreneurial thinking.
