ElevenLabs, an AI research and product company valued at $11B, is seeking an experienced Commercial Counsel to join its Legal Team supporting operations across India and the broader APAC region. The role focuses on complex commercial transactions including SaaS agreements, licensing deals, and strategic partnerships, while navigating the rapidly evolving legal and regulatory landscape of artificial intelligence. Key responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements with a primary focus on go-to-market and sales transactions in India, including enterprise customer contracts. You will partner closely with sales, business development, and operations teams to design strategies that support high-growth initiatives while managing risk across multiple jurisdictions. The role requires monitoring and interpreting region-specific legal and regulatory developments—particularly around data protection, technology, and AI frameworks—and applying this knowledge to contract drafting and risk assessment. You will develop, maintain, and localize contract templates, playbooks, and policies to reflect regional requirements and industry best practices. Providing clear, pragmatic, and commercially focused legal advice to cross-functional teams is essential, with an emphasis on enabling responsible growth and innovation. You'll also contribute to scaling the Legal Team's commercial function and fostering a collaborative, solutions-oriented team culture. The ideal candidate has 7+ years of post-qualification legal experience, with in-house experience in technology or SaaS strongly preferred. You must be qualified to practice law in India and have a proven track record drafting and negotiating complex commercial and technology agreements. Strong knowledge of enterprise software licensing, SaaS, data protection, and intellectual property is required, along with experience advising on privacy, cybersecurity, and cross-border data transfer issues. You should be comfortable working independently in fast-paced, high-growth environments with shifting priorities and tight deadlines, while collaborating effectively with global colleagues. Curiosity about AI and emerging technologies, combined with a strong sense of ownership and hunger for excellence, is essential.
