Salary: USD 225,000 - 275,000 / annual
Qualified Health is seeking its first full-time in-house Commercial Counsel to own day-to-day legal work across the company's growing book of business. The role sits at the intersection of health systems, pharmaceutical sponsors, patients, and evolving healthcare regulation—with legal judgment directly shaping what the company can build next.
You will lead commercial contracting with health systems and life sciences partners, advise on value-based and outcomes-based arrangements, and manage regulatory and compliance questions inherent to building AI for healthcare. Key responsibilities include: serving as legal counterpart to the Commercial team on all deals; owning IP, data, and liability positions across counterparties; screening life sciences engagements for Anti-Kickback Statute and fair market value exposure; maintaining oversight of contractual obligations across the signed portfolio; coordinating with outside counsel on specialist matters (device/SaMD classification, regulatory questions); and establishing legal processes, templates, and standard positions for recurring terms.
You will build legal infrastructure from scratch in a fast-moving seed-stage startup, setting standards for outside counsel work and holding firms accountable. The role requires 7+ years of healthcare or life sciences legal experience, including meaningful in-house time at a similar-stage company. You must have enterprise contracting experience with health systems or pharma, deep knowledge of Anti-Kickback Statute and data governance, and proven ability to coordinate multiple outside counsel relationships. Ideal candidates have experience spanning both health system and life sciences contracting, familiarity with value-based models, and prior law-firm experience serving healthcare clients.
