You will lead the Cloud Infrastructure & Platform team, managing engineers who build Infrastructure as a Service for all product teams. This is a hands-on leadership role where you set roadmap, conduct 1:1s, make hiring decisions, review infrastructure code (Terraform), participate in incident reviews, and make architectural decisions shaping the AWS footprint for the next three years.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, coach, and grow a team of cloud, DevOps, and database reliability engineers across local and offshore locations
- Own delivery of the Cloud Engineering roadmap: governed EKS platform for Broker-Dealer and Clearing systems, disaster recovery (RTO ≤ 60 min / RPO ≤ 15 min), Postgres upgrades, and edge gateway consolidation
- Drive software supply chain security and SDLC hygiene—SBOMs, signed provenance, hardened golden images, policy-as-code admission control—partnering with Security Engineering
- Own the cloud on-call rotation and incident response process: SLAs, runbooks, blameless post-mortems, action item follow-through
- Improve developer experience through ephemeral environments, faster pipelines, and self-service infrastructure, measured by DORA metrics
- Manage cloud and observability spend with cost-per-service visibility, making trade-offs explicit to Finance and engineering leadership
- Represent Cloud Engineering in audits and regulatory reviews with automated evidence
- Mentor engineers on secure infrastructure practices
Required experience: 6+ years in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE, including 2+ years managing engineers at B2B financial services, fintech, or SaaS organizations. Deep AWS expertise across networking, IAM, compute, storage, and cost management at production scale. Strong Kubernetes (EKS) and Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform, Helm, and GitOps (ArgoCD). CI/CD ownership with GitLab pipelines, artifact and secrets management (Vault), and release safety. Operational credibility running production on-call rotations. Observability fluency with OpenTelemetry, SLOs, and error budgets. Track record of hiring, developing, and retaining engineers including remote and offshore team members.
Hybrid schedule: three days per week onsite in San Francisco FiDi or Culver City office.
