Salary: USD 169,150 - 233,000 / annual
Oura is seeking a Clinical Research Staff Scientist to lead real-world evidence (RWE) research initiatives that connect Oura Ring health signals to clinical outcomes, healthcare utilization, and cost savings. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Outcomes Research, you will design and execute observational studies including retrospective cohort analyses, claims-linked outcomes studies, patient-reported outcomes (PRO) studies, and member surveys from conception through publication.
Key responsibilities include: identifying evidence opportunities across Oura's clinical and commercial portfolio; developing rigorous study proposals with clear rationale, endpoints, and timelines; partnering with data science teams to structure analytic datasets from Oura member data and linked claims sources; serving as scientific lead for external research partners including commercial customers, employers, data providers, and academic collaborators; designing studies demonstrating health outcomes and cost impact of data-driven care; translating findings into diverse outputs (payer briefs, white papers, evidence summaries) for cross-functional teams; supporting IRB submissions and data use agreements; and contributing to peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
Required qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Outcomes, or related field with 8+ years of RWE research experience, preferably in wearables. Demonstrated expertise in observational study design, causal inference, and claims-based research. Deep hands-on experience generating evidence from wearable/connected-device data as primary source, including measurement and analytic considerations for continuous physiological signals. Experience with claims, EHR, and registry data sources; data linkage platforms; PRO instrument selection; and survey design. Strong scientific communication skills with track record of outputs resonating with clinical, commercial, or payer audiences. Proven ability to independently drive evidence generation to completion in fast-moving environments. Familiarity with health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) methods, cost analyses, healthcare utilization analyses, and economic modeling is a plus. Experience generating outcomes or ROI evidence for care-delivery or value-based care models is preferred.
