Bayesian Health is a venture-backed healthtech startup building an FDA-cleared, AI-driven clinical platform to help physicians and care teams make better decisions at the point of care. The company has raised funding from top-tier investors including Andreessen Horowitz and the AMA's venture arm, and has been recognized by Forbes AI Top 50, the World Economic Forum, and Time Magazine.
As a Clinical Quality Consultant, you will be the primary investigator for clinical case reviews on sepsis alerts and product quality issues once the platform is live in hospitals. You will work with the Clinical Production Support team to answer clinician questions about why alerts fired or did not fire, investigate what happened in specific patient encounters, reach defensible conclusions, and communicate findings clearly to clinical and client teams.
Key responsibilities include:
**Clinical Case Review**: Perform detailed case reviews on sepsis alerts by working through encounter records, establishing clinical timelines, determining whether alerts behaved as designed, and producing internal case reviews with cited evidence and recommended next actions.
**Product & Technical Fluency**: Build working knowledge of how the product generates, suppresses, and delivers flags, including EHR data integration and AI-assisted triage. Review and correct AI-generated classifications, investigations, and draft acknowledgements where clinical facts don't support the output.
**Communication & Escalation**: Write clear, accurate responses to clinicians and clinical informatics teams following privacy and clinical governance standards. Own escalation by routing issues to the appropriate team (data science, engineering, implementation, clinical), providing necessary context, and driving tickets to closure.
**Caseload Management**: Manage concurrent cases against response commitments, prioritize by clinical and client risk, and maintain current queue status.
**Pattern Recognition**: Identify recurring patterns across cases (mapping failures, latency, suppression gaps), quantify their frequency, and escalate to owning teams proactively.
**Process Ownership**: Create and improve case review templates, evidence standards, response language, triage rules, and escalation paths. Document processes so future reviewers reach the same conclusions from the same facts.
**Complaint Handling**: Support medical device complaint handling by documenting complaints, assembling clinical evidence, and contributing to anomaly disposition as part of the regulated device release process.
You will work in a remote, ticket-driven, data-heavy environment with synchronous hours 11a–5p ET (8a–2p PT). This is a function still being built, so you will shape processes and standards as much as you follow them. The role reports to the Head of Quality and Regulatory.
**Requirements**:
- 5 years of experience in one of the following: (a) Active RN license with 3+ years of acute care experience (ICU, emergency, rapid response) with strong familiarity with sepsis and clinical deterioration, OR (b) Commensurate healthcare experience with ability to understand clinical aspects of sepsis and clinical deterioration
- Experience with EHRs such as Epic or Cerner, or work in clinical informatics, clinical research, or clinical decision support
- Exposure to SEP-1 or sepsis bundle abstraction and quality reporting
- Familiarity with medical device quality standards such as QMSR or ISO 13485, or clear eagerness to build that knowledge
- Comfort reading structured clinical data exports and spreadsheets
- Current, unrestricted authorization to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available)
- Sound clinical judgment and ability to reason from vitals, labs, medications, and documentation to defensible conclusions
- Clear written communication suited to clinician and clinical informatics audiences
- Ability to work independently in a fluid environment where processes are still taking shape
- Demonstrated ability to fix broken processes rather than work around them
- Ability to learn technical products quickly and reason accurately about them
- Fluency with AI tools in daily work, with judgment to verify output rather than pass it through
