Amae Health is a Series B venture-backed Public Benefit Corporation delivering specialty outpatient care for people with severe mental illness through high-acuity, in-person clinics nationwide. The company partners with leading health systems including NewYork-Presbyterian, Cedars-Sinai, Mass General Brigham, Novant Health, and CommonSpirit to expand access to integrated care that brings together psychiatry, therapy, primary care, dietitians, and community support.
You will own referral growth in the Boston region as a Clinical Outreach Liaison, combining territory-building business development with hands-on patient advocacy. This hybrid role requires a home address in the Boston region and regular field travel.
Key responsibilities include:
**Referral Partner Development & Territory Growth (60%):** Build and manage a target list of referral partners across hospitals, emergency departments, community mental health centers, and outpatient providers. Run systematic, recurring outreach to existing partners through regular touchpoints to protect and grow referral volume. Prospect and activate new referral sources based on quarterly targets. Build relationships at multiple levels within health systems—from discharge planners and case managers to physicians and leadership. Re-engage lapsed referral sources by identifying why volume dropped and rebuilding relationships. Understand the competitive landscape and adjust your approach accordingly. Represent Amae at community events, provider in-services, and health system meetings. Serve as the primary point of contact for providers in your market.
**Warm Handoff & Patient-Facing Support (20%):** Personally manage warm handoffs for referred patients by meeting them in hospitals, at home, or in the community to reduce drop-off between referral and first visit. Own rapid response for urgent patient situations, coordinating with hospital systems, social workers, and discharge planners. Be the trusted person who walks patients and families through the door at their most vulnerable moments.
**Pipeline Management & Reporting (20%):** Maintain complete, accurate, real-time CRM records of every touchpoint, referral, and outcome. Own a quarterly market plan with named accounts, targets, and outreach cadence. Report weekly on pipeline health, conversion, and account-level risk.
You'll be measured on total qualified referrals per month, referral-to-intake conversion rate, net-new active referral sources per quarter, and CRM documentation completeness.
**Requirements:**
- 3+ years in a quota-carrying, relationship-driven role such as healthcare business development, referral/provider relations, medical device or pharma sales, or B2B account management
- Demonstrated track record: a territory or book of business you built, grew, or turned around
- Existing familiarity with the Boston healthcare landscape (hospital systems, EDs, case management, behavioral health referral pathways) is a strong plus
- Comfort operating with a number attached to your name; you want to know your target and beat it
- Comfort sitting with patients or families in difficult moments
- Sharp written and verbal communication; confident presenting to clinical and executive stakeholders
- Reliable transportation and willingness to be in the field daily across the Boston region
- Fluency with CRM tools, Google Suite, and Slack
