Salary: USD 110,000 - 114,000 / annual
Tempus is seeking an experienced Clinical Genomic Scientist II to join their remote team. This role is ideal for genetic counselors or PhD scientists with clinical laboratory experience who want to advance their expertise in genomic analysis and clinical reporting.
You will interpret diagnostic test results, review and summarize relevant medical literature, and assess clinical information to support patient care. Your core responsibilities include variant classification using established guidelines, independent drafting of clear and accurate clinical testing reports, and ensuring quality and turnaround time standards are met. You'll leverage your understanding of genomic technologies to assist with technical troubleshooting as needed.
Beyond day-to-day reporting, you'll contribute to process improvement by providing input on current workflows and systems, participate in training sessions on reporting protocols, and may assist in developing guidelines or training new Clinical Genomic Scientists. You'll work collaboratively with team colleagues, providing and receiving feedback in team discussions, and communicating with internal departments to resolve or escalate issues.
This position requires a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related field, or an MS in Genetic Counseling from an accredited institution (or MS in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or similar). You'll need 2+ years of hands-on experience in at least one area: primary genetics literature review, variant classification, genetic evidence summary writing, clinical report drafting, or sequencing result analysis.
You must maintain thorough knowledge of human genetics principles, understand and evaluate genetic data and literature, and possess strong familiarity with diagnostic testing methodologies including next-generation sequencing, Sanger sequencing, microarray, and MLPA. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, combined with enthusiasm for fast-paced, collaborative environments, are essential.
