Lifen is a healthtech company founded in 2015 that enables healthcare professionals and researchers to share medical information and leverage health data for clinical research. The company has connected 800 hospitals and 150,000 healthcare professionals in France, with over 150 employees working across offices and remote locations.
The Clinical Ops team sits at the heart of Lifen's clinical research projects based on health data. The team transforms medical documents into structured data necessary for patient cohort constitution and data exports for research projects. Currently, the team structures approximately 100–200 patient cases per week. The company aims to triple this capacity within 9 months while maintaining high data quality standards.
You will lead the Clinical Ops team and drive the production workflow for patient cohorts, improving quality, processing capacity, and automation simultaneously. Your responsibilities will include:
• Managing and growing the Clinical Ops team, providing clear priority frameworks and organizing daily activities
• Anticipating workload and managing production capacity to limit bottlenecks and absorb volume fluctuations
• Building monitoring and dashboarding tools to track patient volumes, processing capacity, error rates, blockers, and team workload
• Constructing and orchestrating a continuous improvement roadmap to progressively increase processing capacity
• Championing this roadmap with Product, AI, and Engineering teams—making operational needs visible, tracking R&D deliverables, and establishing the cadence needed for improvements to be realized
• Ensuring cohort quality and contributing to data export preparation for research projects
Success will be measured by your ability to establish reliable activity monitoring, reduce errors and bottlenecks, and create a sustained continuous improvement rhythm with Product and R&D teams to support scaling from ~100–200 to 300–600 structured patient cases per week without tripling headcount.
You thrive in environments where processes, tools, and responsibilities must be built from scratch. You have a "just do it" mentality—when faced with an ill-defined problem, you understand the facts, structure the problem, and implement solutions quickly. You are comfortable creating tools rather than simply using them. You are structured and organized but not bureaucratic; you can dive into workflow details to identify real problems while maintaining a big-picture perspective and prioritizing high-impact work. You can move teams forward even without direct hierarchical authority, making problems visible, clarifying priorities, and establishing the rhythm needed to turn decisions into concrete improvements.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must-have:
• Successful experience in a startup or scale-up environment where processes, tools, and responsibilities had to be built
• Concrete experience with Real-World Data / Real-World Evidence, ideally around patient cohort constitution or exploitation
• Healthcare or scientific background enabling understanding of medical data and clinical research challenges
• Confirmed experience managing operational teams
• Experience structuring and monitoring complex activities using data and KPIs
• Ability to move from concrete operational problems to structured improvement plans
• Experience collaborating closely with Product, Data/AI, or Engineering teams
• Ability to advance cross-functional roadmaps and create accountability around deliverables
Nice-to-have:
• Background in data management, biostatistics, epidemiology, or related scientific field
• Experience structuring registries, health databases, or RWD cohorts
• Familiarity with clinical research challenges and interactions with health authorities
• Understanding of AI and engineering applications to health data
