Blockchain.com, a leading global cryptocurrency platform with 90+ million wallet holders and $1 trillion in facilitated transactions, is seeking an experienced Chief Information Security Officer to lead its global cybersecurity organization. Reporting to the CTO, the CISO will define and execute the company's comprehensive cybersecurity strategy while supporting rapid product innovation and preparing for the company's journey toward becoming a US public company.
The CISO will oversee Security Engineering, Security Operations, and Security GRC teams, collaborating closely with Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, Legal, Compliance, Finance, IT, and SRE. Key responsibilities include defining global cybersecurity strategy aligned with business objectives and IPO readiness; fostering a security-first culture as a business enabler; leading and scaling security organizations; partnering with executive leadership and internal audit on enterprise risk and regulatory readiness; strengthening cloud, application, and infrastructure security across the digital asset platform; designing operational flows and technical systems to safeguard client and company funds; driving incident response, vulnerability management, and operational resilience; devising AI governance and safety strategies; maintaining custody systems; providing executive-level security assessments to the Board and regulators; ensuring compliance with SOC 1/2, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, DoRA, SOX, and other regulatory frameworks; and embedding security into the software development lifecycle.
Required qualifications include proven CISO or senior security executive experience in high-growth technology or financial services; experience leading security in a US public company or through an IPO with strong SOX and SEC cybersecurity knowledge; deep technical expertise in cryptocurrency, digital assets, blockchain, or fintech; demonstrated success leading global Security Engineering and GRC teams; strong knowledge of cloud security (GCP/AWS), application security, incident response, IAM, and modern architectures; operational experience with self-custody systems and HSMs; ability to present to executive leadership, boards, and regulators; and strong leadership and stakeholder management skills balancing security, innovation, and growth.
The role is based in the London office with mandatory in-office presence four days per week.
