Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the technical strategy and execution of its rapidly growing space team in Costa Mesa, CA. This role serves as the technical lead for emerging spacecraft missions focused on dynamic space operations, space control, and Rendezvous & Proximity Operations (RPO). You will drive technology development across the full lifecycle—from design and build through test and on-orbit delivery—leveraging Anduril's Lattice OS and modular payload architecture.
Key responsibilities include developing technical strategy and roadmaps in collaboration with the Director of Engineering and strategy leads; overseeing pre-award demonstrations, early contract phases, and full program execution; and ensuring efficient development and delivery of integrated hardware and software solutions. You will lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering teams spanning internal staff and subcontracted partners, balancing agile development with continuous integration/deployment practices.
You will provide technical oversight across all program phases—from proposals through SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR, assembly, qualification testing, and flight unit delivery. This includes establishing test requirements with external vendors and building infrastructure for satellite and payload build, integration, and test. You will also work closely with Anduril's Space C2 team to deliver ground control products to customers.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise across mechanical, thermal, structural, electrical, orbital software, ground software, FPGA, firmware, GNC, survivability, EMI/EMC, reliability, manufacturing, and on-orbit operations. You will mentor a multi-disciplinary team, perform mission and system-level trade studies, and serve as the technical authority maintaining program integrity and engineering baseline. This is a high-impact role shaping next-generation space capabilities for U.S. and allied military advantage in contested domains.
