SumUp's Disputes team investigates chargeback and fraud cases at the intersection of fraud prevention, regulatory compliance, and customer experience. As a Chargeback Specialist, you will be part of a newly created role on a growing team, with the opportunity to shape processes as the function scales alongside SumUp's transaction growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse and initiate chargeback claims using Salesforce, ensuring compliance with card scheme regulations
- Assess disputes and fraud notifications, including those received directly from Mastercard
- Follow up on chargeback cases through to resolution, working to recover funds for customers and SumUp
- Communicate with customers and internal teams throughout the dispute resolution process
- Respond to information requests from internal and external partners, maintaining case progress updates
- Navigate multiple systems and follow detailed procedures while maintaining accuracy under time pressure
The role involves working with PSD2 compliance requirements and tight regulatory timeframes for handling reported fraud. You'll work in SumUp's modern Sofia office on an office-first basis.

Requirements:
- Comfortable using Word, Excel, and basic data manipulation on a daily basis
- Understanding of the payment cycle, card transactions, and how disputes and chargebacks work
- Curiosity about fraud patterns and how rules and models are used to flag and review cases
- Strong attention to detail with a habit of double-checking cases before submission
- Ability to navigate multiple systems and follow detailed procedures without losing accuracy under time pressure
