The company acquired Imperfect Foods in 2022 and operates an in-house transportation network, saving an average of 500,000 pounds of food per week from waste.
The Category Manager for Meat & Seafood will join the Merchandising team and report directly to the Sr. Director of Category Management. This role is responsible for leading category strategy for assigned non-produce categories (specifically meat and seafood) while supporting the team in achieving departmental OKRs.
Key responsibilities include: developing and executing category strategies aligned with company goals; owning the category P&L and negotiating to hit revenue, profit, SKU productivity, quality, and food waste savings targets; managing vendor relationships with focus on competitive pricing, product quality, and timely delivery; conducting market research to identify trends, competitor strategies, and consumer preferences; collaborating cross-functionally with Inventory Planning, Operations, Logistics, Marketing, Product Development, and IT; supporting sustainability initiatives focused on reducing food waste; assisting in category growth projects and process improvements; and collaborating with product development teams to identify new opportunities based on customer demand.
