CesiumAstro is seeking a detail-oriented Calibration Engineer to join the Quality Engineering Team. The company develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms.
In this role, you will ensure the accuracy and reliability of measurement and test equipment (M&TE) used in aerospace manufacturing and testing. You will develop, implement, and maintain calibration processes that comply with industry regulations and quality standards, playing a key role in maintaining product integrity and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain and continuously improve calibration programs meeting AS9100, ISO 17025, and other industry standards
- Schedule and perform calibrations to ensure equipment compliance and minimize production downtime
- Develop and execute calibration procedures for aerospace M&TE
- Manage suppliers and service providers, negotiating pricing and contracts for equipment rental, purchase, and calibration services
- Analyze calibration data to identify trends, implement corrective actions, and optimize measurement processes
- Lead investigations into calibration failures, out-of-tolerance conditions, and nonconformances
- Evaluate and recommend new calibration equipment, software, and best practices
- Ensure timely equipment rental/leasing to avoid downtime and maintain productivity
- Support internal and external audits with calibration records, procedures, and technical expertise
- Train technicians and operators on proper calibration techniques and equipment handling
- Maintain detailed records of calibration activities in compliance with QMS requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent experience
- 5 years of experience in calibration, metrology, or quality engineering, preferably in aerospace or defense industry
- Strong understanding of metrology principles, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and measurement uncertainty analysis
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540, and other relevant quality and calibration standards
- Experience with asset management software, statistical analysis tools, and Microsoft Office
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills with strong attention to detail
- ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT), Six Sigma Green Belt, or equivalent metrology certifications preferred
