Abacus Insights is a healthcare data platform company backed by $100M in funding, transforming how health plans use data to improve outcomes and reduce costs. The company helps health plans break down data silos and create a unified, trusted data foundation that powers better decisions across Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial lines of business. As a Business Solution Manager, you'll be the critical bridge between client business needs and technical design. You'll own the full requirements-to-design arc for client engagements, ensuring business intent, scope, and success criteria are crystal clear before work reaches developers. Key responsibilities include: **Requirements & Design Leadership**: Lead discovery sessions with health plan stakeholders to understand business context, pain points, and success criteria. Translate complex healthcare challenges into precise, testable requirements with full traceability. Document requirements unambiguously and convert them into clean designs that developers can build from—including source-to-target data flows, transformation logic, and business rules. **Data Literacy & Hands-On Work**: Write and execute SQL to analyze data, test assumptions, and prototype throughout the requirements and design phases. Hands-on data work is core to this role. Determine appropriate data grain and structure based on business context, and trace how those decisions ripple through downstream reports and analytics. **Systems Thinking**: Map dependencies across workstreams and use cases before finalizing designs. Recognize when solutions built for one client or state can become reusable patterns, and actively design toward reuse. Think beyond individual requests to see how each requirement fits into the larger system of clients, states, use cases, and data flows. **Client Partnership**: Drive requirements-gathering conversations with health plan teams and their partners. Represent client intent internally, manage scope and expectations, and ensure alignment between what's promised and what's delivered. You'll work across engagements spanning data standardization, platform migration, regulatory compliance, and analytics programs. This role requires command of healthcare business context combined with strong data literacy. You'll work with US health plans and their service partners on engagements that span the full spectrum of making healthcare data usable and actionable.
