Flai is building an AI-native communications platform for car dealerships, a $1.3 trillion industry where dealerships spend $36B annually on operations due to outdated systems and manual processes. The company has deployed multiple products across hundreds of dealerships, partnered with the 2nd largest automaker in the country and leading dealership groups, and raised funding from top-tier VCs including First Round Capital, Toyota Ventures, Y Combinator, and Innovation Endeavors.
In this Business Operations role, you'll work directly with the founders to run and scale how Flai operates day-to-day. You'll own a broad portfolio spanning finance, billing, vendor management, people operations, and cross-functional projects that don't fit neatly into other roles. As the company grows rapidly with a small, scrappy team, you'll have real ownership and a front-row seat to how a company gets built.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as the founders' right hand, taking things off their plate and keeping the company humming as it scales
- Support billing, invoicing, and expenses; work with accounting partners
- Manage vendor contracts, renewals, and the tools and services the company relies on
- Build and shape people operations including onboarding, benefits, and HR processes
- Launch new processes, evaluate tools, and own cross-team projects
- Identify and implement improvements across the business
You're a resourceful generalist who can drop into unfamiliar problems and figure them out. You bring structure to chaos, turning vague problems into clear plans. You're a finisher who takes projects from idea to done without needing oversight. You're comfortable with numbers—budgets, spreadsheets, and financial basics don't intimidate you. You have great judgment and can be trusted with sensitive information across finance and people. You have low ego and will do whatever it takes to help the company move faster. You're AI-native and use tools and automation to get more done with less.
Requirements:
- Experience in business operations, strategy and operations, consulting, or a similar generalist role
- Track record of owning projects from start to finish
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Must work in-person in San Francisco 5 days a week
Nice to have:
- Experience at an early-stage startup
- Exposure to finance, accounting, or people operations
- Experience implementing new tools or systems
