Valar Atomics is building scalable, factory-made advanced nuclear power systems to unlock clean, high-temperature energy for industrial applications, hydrogen production, and next-generation manufacturing. The company is developing its first pilot plant in Orangeville, Utah, and is scaling toward commercial deployment. The Business Intelligence Systems Manager will own the data infrastructure and reporting systems that enable Valar's commercial projects to operate effectively. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for building the data platform that connects schedules, costs, risks, documents, engineering inputs, licensing requirements, procurement, and supply chain information into actionable insights for project teams, site leaders, and executives. Key responsibilities include designing and building Valar's commercial data platform; establishing how data is collected, structured, stored, connected, and reported; creating executive dashboards for project status, cost, risk, and schedule tracking; building self-serve reporting tools so teams can access information independently; leading integrations between business systems and data sources; setting standards for data quality, access control, and audit trails; and working closely with Project Controls, Finance, Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, IT, and Commercial Projects teams. The role requires translating messy business needs into clear data systems and operational automations that scale from one site to many. Success means giving teams reliable information to make better decisions and move faster. The manager will lead a small technical team while remaining hands-on, balancing speed with data quality and traceability, and avoiding unnecessary complexity. Required qualifications include 7+ years in data engineering, business intelligence, data platforms, or analytics systems; proven experience owning a data platform end-to-end from raw data through dashboards; strong ability to translate business needs into data work; experience managing a small data or analytics team; comfort in fast-moving environments with incomplete information; and good judgment about when to build versus when simpler solutions suffice. Preferred experience includes Palantir Forward Deployed Engineer background or similar customer-facing data engineering roles; AI infrastructure, lab automation, or technical operations; aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, construction, project controls, or energy sectors; familiarity with Primavera, Microsoft Project, ERP systems, Palantir Foundry, or construction/project management platforms; regulated industry experience (nuclear, aerospace, defense, aviation, manufacturing); and strong communication skills with executives and technical teams.
