Salary: CAD 70,000 - 110,000 / annual

CoLab is an AI platform that helps mechanical engineering teams bring products to market faster. The platform builds a knowledge repository of design feedback and decisions, with AI agents that flag issues on future designs before they compound. As a Business Development Representative, you will be responsible for generating qualified pipeline and driving growth by identifying, engaging, and qualifying prospective customers through cold calls, emails, and social outreach. You will own monthly and quarterly SQL (Sales Qualified Leads) and SAO (Sales Accepted Opportunities) targets. Your role includes conducting in-depth account research to identify key decision-makers and understand organizational priorities, acting as the first point of contact for prospects, and representing CoLab's brand while uncovering pain points. You will partner closely with Account Executives to set up high-quality meetings and ensure smooth handoffs for deeper discovery. You'll maintain accurate records in Salesforce and outreach tools, leveraging data to optimize your approach. The role emphasizes continuous improvement through feedback and coaching sessions to develop both sales and technical acumen. This is a full-time, permanent position based in St. John's or Toronto, with regular travel to downtown Toronto required. The role offers opportunities for growth into senior/management positions in Sales Development or transitions to Account Executive and Success Teams. REQUIREMENTS: - Demonstrated experience in a Business Development role - Confidence and executive presence when engaging stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership and C-suite - Conviction for sales with drive to build pipeline and growth; entrepreneurial mindset and passion for outbound prospecting - Creative problem-solving and adaptability with bias for action - Interest and ability to understand technical products and customer use cases, and communicate their value clearly - Team-first attitude with ownership mentality - Strong internal motivation to hit goals and make measurable impact - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with focus on clarity, empathy, and persuasion
