As Business Development Manager for Japan, you will be a key member of the Supply team, balancing two critical functions: acquiring and onboarding new sellers, and managing relationships with existing sellers to drive growth and retention. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and execute go-to-market strategies to acquire new sellers and expand the platform's offerings in Japan - Build and maintain strong relationships with key sellers, ensuring high adoption, commitment, and satisfaction - Analyze sales and quality performance data to identify growth opportunities and ensure profitable, healthy growth for both sellers and Back Market - Conduct strategy calls, business reviews, and seller visits tailored to specific use cases and business models - Identify and develop partnerships with industry players, service providers, and affiliates in the refurbished electronics and e-commerce landscape - Develop subject-matter expertise on the refurbished devices industry and seller pain points - Lead cross-functional projects with customer care, quality, marketing, and product teams The role operates in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with hybrid flexibility (2 remote days/week, 1 remote week/quarter, plus 3 flex days). You'll work across time zones and multicultural teams, reporting to the General Manager APAC. Requirements: - 5–7 years of experience in sales, business development, and/or account management roles - Proven track record acquiring sellers or partners - Demonstrated ability to resolve issues and maintain strong client relationships - Project management experience with ability to coordinate across teams and time zones - Strong time management, pipeline management, and sense of ownership/accountability - AI and data skills preferred; hands-on experience with automations, Salesforce, SQL, Tableau, or AI tools is a plus, but willingness to learn is essential - Previous experience in e-commerce or fast-growing startups preferred (not mandatory) - Native Japanese with business-level English (written and spoken); Chinese skills appreciated but not required - High interpersonal skills and strong understanding of Japanese and cross-cultural dynamics - Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous startup environments with always-on expectations
