Kafene is a fintech company revolutionizing the lease-to-own space through AI-powered point-of-sale solutions. The company has facilitated over $500 million in originations and serves retailers across furniture, appliances, electronics, tires, and durable goods. With 175 employees and headquarters in NYC, Kafene has been recognized as a Startup to Watch by Built In and named one of America's Best Startup Employers by Forbes.
As a Business Development Manager, you will own the goal of bringing new retail partners onto the Kafene platform in the Atlanta territory. This is a field sales role requiring you to spend most of your week on the road, walking into stores, and meeting owners face-to-face. You will identify and approach furniture, appliance, and durable goods retailers, present Kafene's lease-to-own program in terms of each retailer's specific goals and customer base, and close deals on the sales floor.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building your pipeline by identifying and walking into retailers across your Atlanta territory
- Getting in front of decision-makers through in-person meetings with owners and store leaders
- Presenting Kafene's lease-to-own program tailored to each retailer's needs
- Owning your sales targets and building a business development plan to meet or exceed them
- Onboarding new partners and supporting them through their first 90 days in collaboration with Account Management
- Sharing market intelligence about competitors, trends, and merchant needs with leadership, marketing, and product teams
You will work independently managing your own schedule and territory while collaborating closely with account management partners. There is no physical office to report to; your territory is your office.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of outside or field sales experience with a proven track record of meeting or beating targets (not inside sales, SDR, or SaaS account executive roles)
- Comfort with face-to-face selling, including walking in unannounced and persisting through rejection
- Preference for field work over desk-based roles; energized by territory management and store visits
- Solid understanding of retail operations; experience with consumer financing, lease-to-own, or point-of-sale financing is a plus
- Strong in-person communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Ability to manage your own schedule and territory independently
- Proficiency with CRM systems like Salesforce
- Must currently live in the Atlanta area and be able to travel throughout it regularly
- Likely backgrounds include door-to-door sales (pest control, solar, home services), outside sales to retail stores or dealers, field sales for distributors or route-based businesses, or former athletes with competitive drive
