ICON is redefining the built environment through robotics, software, and advanced materials. We are seeking a Director of Business Development to architect our expansion across the Greater Houston area and serve as the primary market strategist for our proprietary robotic construction technology. You will identify and penetrate market segments including master-planned communities, strategic infill, retail, mixed-use, and small commercial projects that benefit from ICON's robotic speed, design freedom, and material durability. You'll lead the regional Go/No-Go process, vetting opportunities against ICON's technical capabilities and project criteria. Key responsibilities include cultivating a deep ecosystem of first-movers—top-tier developers, private equity investors, and world-class architects/engineers—and owning deals from initial visioning through signed contracts. You'll conduct high-level financial and technical feasibility assessments, speaking fluently about pro-formas and construction cost metrics. You'll lead negotiation of complex Design-Build agreements and partner with regulatory teams to navigate permitting hurdles in new municipalities. You'll act as a subject matter expert on ICON's robotics systems, educating stakeholders on long-term ROI, sustainability, and de-risking benefits. You'll collaborate with Marketing to differentiate ICON against traditional general contractors, highlighting our ability to deliver architecturally complex, resilient structures. Required: 10+ years in Business Development or Real Estate Development, with proven track record in Design-Build, General Contractor, or real estate developer environments. Deep understanding of Greater Houston real estate fundamentals, land use, regional construction costs, and the developer landscape. Technical literacy in robotics, architecture, and advanced materials. A Day One rolodex of local developers, investors, and architectural influencers. Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Real Estate, or Construction Management (MBA or MRED preferred). Proficiency with AI tools (Claude, Gemini) to accelerate research, drafting, and analysis.
