Shield AI is a venture-backed defense-tech company developing autonomous systems, aircraft, and simulation technologies to protect service members and civilians. The company operates globally with offices across the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
In this Business Development Associate role based in Melbourne, you will serve as a key liaison between Shield AI and Australian government stakeholders. Your responsibilities include building and maintaining strong relationships with federal, state, and territory government departments, agencies, and regulatory authorities. You will monitor and interpret government policies, regulations, and initiatives relevant to the company's operations, and support alignment of company objectives with Australian government priorities such as the National Defence Strategy (NDS), Industry Innovation Program (IIP), and Defence Industry Development Strategy (DIDS).
You will coordinate applications for approvals, licenses, and other regulatory requirements with relevant government bodies, represent the organization at official meetings, forums, and industry events involving government stakeholders, and provide strategic advice to leadership on navigating Australia's regulatory and policy landscape. Acting as a key point of contact for business development initiatives, you will ensure smooth coordination between internal and external stakeholders. The role requires occasional travel for events and business development activities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or related discipline
- 3–5 years' experience in business development, sales support, or office coordination
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams
- Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM and business development tools (desirable)
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing tasks and priorities
- Proactive, adaptable approach with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel occasionally
