Kanin Energy is a leading developer, owner, and operator of on-site, low-carbon energy infrastructure for heavy industrial customers across North America. The company partners with industrial facilities to design, finance, build, and operate customized energy solutions including waste heat-to-power systems, combined heat and power (CHP), and other on-site power generation solutions. Kanin serves sectors including oil & gas, cement, steel, chemicals, pulp & paper, food & beverage, and other manufacturing.
The Business Development Analyst will support early-stage pipeline growth by working directly with the Manager of Business Development to identify, generate, and qualify high-quality project opportunities. This is a strategic and analytical role focused on consistently generating and qualifying a high volume of leads.
Key responsibilities include:
- Actively manage and maintain Kanin Energy's CRM system for board- and executive-level pipeline review
- Develop technoeconomic analysis and financial models for early-stage business development opportunities
- Develop high-quality sales materials and messaging for prospective clients
- Coordinate cross-functionally with engineering, power marketing, finance, and origination teams
- Scan the energy and industrial landscape for high-impact events, conferences, and engagements; prepare associated marketing materials
- Support the BD Manager in identifying, prioritizing, and executing high-impact business development campaigns
- Proactively engage prospective clients across heavy industrial sectors, coordinate client meetings, and manage next steps
- Develop tools and strategies to support project pipeline growth
Success in the first three months includes: gaining deep understanding of Kanin's product offering and target client priorities; mastering the CRM and sales tools; learning the development process and BD messaging; building early-stage financial models and project proposals; and creating an annual schedule of high-ROI events and conferences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Organizational Psychology, or other relevant field
- 2+ years of experience in business development, strategy, or management consulting within energy and/or industrial sectors
- Creative thinker comfortable with ambiguity who can conceptualize big picture while managing details
- Very rapid learner with proven record of success
- Self-starter who takes ownership of work
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Baseline understanding of industrial energy systems and power markets
- Preference for Calgary, AB based role
