Level Zero Health is a venture-backed biosensor startup (TechCrunch Disrupt 2024 top 20, backed by SOSV and Entrepreneur First) pioneering next-generation electrochemical biosensor technology for real-time monitoring of endocrine biomarkers. Founded by experienced engineers, the company is building clinical-grade health monitoring solutions.
You will design, prototype, and optimize electrochemical biosensor systems focused on small molecule detection using aptamer-based recognition elements. Key responsibilities include: applying surface chemistry and electrode modification strategies to enhance sensitivity and selectivity; translating biorecognition interactions into measurable sensor outputs through novel assay design; employing electrochemical methods (voltammetry, impedimetry, chronoamperometry) to characterize biosensor performance; using Python-based analysis and Design of Experiments (DoE) to optimize workflows; troubleshooting technical challenges and proposing innovative solutions; developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for reproducibility and quality compliance; collaborating with cross-functional teams (chemists, biologists, engineers, data scientists) to advance prototypes; and communicating results through reports, presentations, and scientific publications.
You bring a Ph.D. in Electrochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical/Materials Engineering, or related discipline with focus on aptamer biosensors (postdoctoral experience a plus). Essential expertise includes: hands-on biosensor design and electrochemical techniques; proficiency with electrochemical instrumentation and data analysis; demonstrated expertise with aptamers and biorecognition elements; strong knowledge of small molecule detection in biological/environmental samples; practical experience handling biofluids; excellent problem-solving skills; and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams. Nice-to-have skills include Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR), molecular docking, automation, Python scripting, statistical design approaches, and track record of peer-reviewed publications or patents.
Level Zero values integrity, self-direction, clear communication, and impact-driven mindset. You thrive in fast-paced startup environments, balance independence with collaboration, and are motivated by advancing human health. The role offers competitive salary, equity options, and direct collaboration with the founding team and industry experts.
